Beethoven's 250th Birthday Bash

Join the Albany Symphony as we join the worldwide celebration of the 250th birthday of one of classical music’s greatest composers, Ludwig van Beethoven. Joining the orchestra will be pianist Do-Yung Kim and the combined university choruses from South Georgia for a rare performance of Beethoven’s exuberant Choral Fantasy. Written for piano solo, orchestra, solo sextet, and chorus; the work includes a joyful text celebrating life, beauty, and spirit of happiness. It is set to a melody that foreshadows the famous “Ode to Joy” in his 9th Symphony. This birthday bash showcases a sampling of works from throughout Beethoven’s creative periods.
